help with clutch slave

ok so on sunday i bought an 83. after i bought it on the way home i was having a hard time getting into gears. later on the clutch wouldnt disengage at all and found it was the slave that went. the owner provided me with a new one but when taking the old off it looked different then the new one. i tried installing it boy those bolts were a pita. tried bleeding it but found a leak, fixed it. now when im bleeding it and the bleeded valve is closed brake fluid spews from the slave where the fork would meet the to bearing. it did not do this earlier to my knowledge. so what is wrong? did it misalign? is it the wrong slave cylinder? or something else? thank you.

ok sorry i didnt know the names of the parts. let me try again. the shaft on the old one had a ball on the tip. the new one doesn't. so when i try to put it on the fork its to thin anc falls and when engaging the clutch it pushes past it pushing the rubber seal back causing the fluid to leak. should i use the old shaft with the new rubber and slave or can the shafts go bad? why is this new one to thin?

Use the old shaft. That should fix your problem

It is just a piece of metal, the seals inside your slave are what causes it to fail, not the shaft.

Hope this helps

You should also replace your clutch master cylinder while you're doing all that. Trust me, you'll save a bunch of headache later

Good advice for sure.

I just replaced my transmission and the clutch slave gave out (bad seal), replaced that now I think my master is gone. Are we having fun yet

I too have had to replace them both at the same time. It's always fun dealing with the nut at the top of the master. This is why the FCs have an offset of the master cylinder studs.

Sounds like you have the wrong part. You can spend $100, order both from Mazdatrix and know that you have quality correct parts. Check your hose carefully or just replace it with rubber or stainless for another $20.

Mazda parts are Tokico brand. If you can find that brand locally you are good to go. I'm not suggesting all other brands are bad, but some are a waste of time and money. As already mentioned, replace both now or the master will likely fail soon.

Thanks guys, sorry for responding late. I actually had put the shaft in backwards. The new shaft looked different from the old one and I got confused haha, plus this was my first time trying to replace one. While putting it in backwards it got jammed in the fork and broke some kind of seal. I took it to a local shop, one that the company I work for always uses for theirs trucks. They fixed replaced the seal and even drained out fluid from the trans. which they said happened when the shaft got stuck and brake fluid was expelled haha. This causes my clutch to now chatter, crap. Oh well need to replace it soon anyway. Also while it was at the shop I told them to take it fro a drive and tell me what else needs fixing since I just picked up the car on the weekend. Brakes were squishy real bad actually, and they fell to the floor. They replaced the brake master which was completely horrible condition. Then the brake pads were next to nothing so had them replaced, and while taking off one of the front pads brake fluid just gushed out. They said the one of the seals on the caliper had gone bad I guess real bad, and the brake dust had formed a temporary seal and when it was moved from taking the pad off it just unsealed itself. So they rebuilt that. Next I have to get some new tires, get rid of the horrible stereo and speakers, then replace the clutch. any suggestions for a nice stereo?

I have to say, I think you are like the third person this week to put the shaft in backwards

Don't worry, I did it too.

I have a stock stereo, and to be honest, I think it sounds pretty damn good with the dolby setup. My front speakers don't really work, but the rear ones have very nice tone.
