Help!

Hi..
I have a 1985 gen 1 RX7, and all of a sudden shifting gear into 1st or 2nd became quite difficult. It feels as if the travel of the gearstick is less than what it was, and JUST manages to get far enough across to shove it into 1st or 2nd. All the other gears are fine. Any idea what could be causing this?

Also, in 3rd and 4th when I get to around 6000 RPM on an uphill I get a dramatic power loss, I think it must be fuel starvation. Where do i start looking to fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Arthur

Sounds like a clutch going out to me, but then again, what do I know ...If its getting hard to put in gears, maybe the clutch isint releasing all the way (master/slave cylinder? Check fluid?), and if your loosing power, maybe the clutch is slipping which would cause the RPMs to go up, but you not really go anywhere...Those are my best guesses. You could try changing your tranny fluid and put some full synthetic in there, like Royal Purple or Red Line and see if that helps. Also, welcome to the forum .

Thanks, glad I found this forum..

Why I haven't considered clutch trouble is because the problem is only evident in 1st and 2nd, all other gears are perfectly fine.

Also, with the power loss prob it feels exactly like fuel starvation or dodgy spark or something, sudden loss of power and revs go down. I think it's time for a service.... The gear problem is the one I am worried about, could wind up being expensive
