help with 83 cluster removal
so to make things even harder i don't have that much light in my garage so i can't see if i'm missing anything, but i can't figure out how to get the cluster out. i took off the outer plastic and the clear one, but after that i can't figure out where the other screws are. i took the two out on top and i heard there might be screws in the back, but i don't know where to look. any help with pics would be great--thanx

That was my guess. Some of the kits have a split so you don't have to remove the needles, others you can slip the face over the needle without removing it. Try that before removing the needles. If you don't get them clocked in the exact position they came off, they will be off.

The needles are just a pressed on fit. don't pull to hard or you'll break them. Try to get under the hub with a thin, somewhat wide, screwdriver. BE CAREFUL. Pry it up a little at a time, being gentle, but firm.
And keep in mind, trochoid is absolutely correct. Even if you think you got it back on in the right spot, you'll probably still be a little off. Mine turned out to be 15mph off, and I put it at dead on 0. You're best bet would be to reinstall the cluster without the needle and cover, drive it for a few blocks, park it, and then put it back on at zero.
Good luck.
