Help!
I have been reading through the archives, and I have found a ton of great information regarding T2 swaps into a first gen; however, my problem is that all the information I found to complete this swap in based on a T2 install into a GSL-SE. I am trying to do this swap with my 1982 GS(manual steering). I realize that I need a better fuel pump because I am going to a fuel injection system, and the T2 obviously needs more fuel pressure. I just don't know if I have to buy a new exhaust manifold to relocate the turbo forward, I am not sure if I have to get an SE oil pan because my steering rack is in the way, or if I am going to have to change the front engine cover, and finally, do I need to have a custom driveshaft made? If any of you guys know of a link in the archives that would answer these questions, please let me know, because I do not wish to waste anyone's time with another repeat question about a T2 swap. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It doenst matter what type of 1st gen the engine goes into, almost all the work is the same.
The only real difference is that GSL-SE guys have the option of retaining an external fuel pump, since their car came with factory EFI and the fuel tank is baffled correctly for it.Also,GSL-SE guys have it easier since they dont have to track down the SE oilpan and front engine cover for the swap.Non SE cars will need a little tweeking to the front mount bar,but its a very minor thing.
Every other aspect of the swap is the same, whether its going into a 79S or an 85GSL.
A custom driveline is mandetory, unless you retain the 1st gen tranny....which isnt recommended since the TII engine makes about double the power. The driveline is really a minor task/cost, when the entire swap is considered.
