Help

I have an 84 RX-7 and it keeps dying on me,the tach goes out and then it dies and sometimes starts right away and other times i have to wait awhile. Any ideas?

you know, that is such a vague description. it could be 100's of things

however, if i were u, i'd start with a simple tune up

1) change the plugs, the oil, the petrol filter, oil filter and air filter
2) clean out your dizzy cap
3) check all your wiring....ie that nothing is withered and that all connections are on properly...eg the coil leads are plugged in nicely
4) give the carb a cleanout by spraying some carb cleaner into it

if no improvement after the above, come back here and give more detailed description

i suspect maybe your problem is fuel...ie clogged fuel filter or dirt/gummed up carb/jets so i would attack those areas first

do u know where the fuel filter is ? its under a cover at the rear of the car next to the fuel pump.

Trailing ignitor is faulty and thus signal doesn't get to fuel pump relay, resulting in no fuel to engine. Check connections, replace trailing ignitor as needed.

Your tach AND fuel pump run off the trailing iginition. Check your trailing ignitors.

Trailing ignitor is bad,i did the switch to get it running again. NapA list this part at 269.00,is there anywhere to get a cheaper one?

Ignitors are a dime a dozen for 1st gens. Post up in the WTB section and if there is no one close to you that has one
i'll send you one for $15.00 shipped

Or make a trip to a local junkyard. Then they are free ;)
