heater or defrost?

today driving home my windows were super foggedd up... so i put it on defrost.

but wtf, it acted like heater not defroster, and when i put it on heater it acts like defroster. can someone explain this to me?

are the switches backwards? its a 85 gslse

i've had logicons do that. mazda has a tester specifically for the logicons for the 84-85 GSL and GSL-SE logicons. the wiring isn't backwards. i would replace teh logicon with a known good one.

Heater section at the end of Chapter 15 in the 85 FSM has diagrams and troubleshooting info.
