Heater core

i have a feeling my heater core is gone..
the vents always have a hot brezze comming thru them even when the fans off and the **** is switched over to cold the blue..

is there a why i can check it with out ripping half the dash out to get to it?

where does the cool air from out side get sucked in from?

thanks Mick

Well, the heater core going out wouldnt cause that problem...

However, I had that same problem on my 85, but it turned out that the cable that moves the stuff under the dash had just come off so even when the **** was turned to cool, it was still blowing hot.

First Gen RX7s are not power vented like todays cars. The HVAC equipment has fresh air flowing all the time regardless of the fan speed. If you have (or had) AC press the Recurculation button and that will stop the air from blowing when the fan is off.

Good luck

i hope its something easy like the cable comming off. i will have a look on the weekend for that one.

i had AC but its been removed but i still dont have a recirculate button. no matter what possition the levers are some hot air gets thru.

and i think the fans dying too. once on 3 it used to blow way to much air now its bairly noticable..

another thing it might be is behind the heater core,( you can see it) it where the valve is that lets the hot water into your heatercore. mine was stuck open once so hot water was always in the heatercore. the cable hooks right to it from the dash. check that out if your cable is still on.

Mine did that too. It was a piece of duct work that came loose from the fab motor to the rest of the dash.
