Hearing a wierd sound when I shift

When I shift or sometimes taking off from a stop. I hear what sounds like metel clanging toughter. Its not everytime but sometimes. I know that I need new shifter bushings its getting harder and harder to shift expechally with out grinding. But the sound dosnt sound like its coming from that close it sounds like its by the clutch. Idk im lost... ohh and just curiosity what type of oil is everyone running? cause Iv gone from 15w-40 to 20w-50 and no it seems to have almost stopped smoking but when i go back to the 15w it starts smoking a tad bit

Check your clutch fluid. It could be running out.

Do you hear the sound if you push the clutch in or if it is in gear?

Check the driveline u-joints as well, when they start to die they will make all sorts of nasty sounds on power on/off. The noise tends to be transferred forward along the shaft as well.
