headlight actuator bars
The plastic bushings always seem to break. Since I can't seem to get these in junk yards anymore, is there a source for new metal bars with the bushings installed.

Both the long and short rods w/bushings are still available thur Mazda or Mazdatrix but they are pricy. I've saw some clever fixes and ideas for replacements on here and one member has cast his own replacements.
|
Mine were broken as well. I ended up placing a zip tie behind the broken bushing to hold it in place. Seems to be holding up just fine.
Any other option seems to be quite costly in either time, or money. :) . |
Take the rod to your local hardware store and get a rubber grommet that fits in the hole snugly, it has been well documented around here.

I agree with flight_of_pain.I used the same method on my wiper and they work fine

i just removed the motors myself and used a single bar to lock the head lights up when I need them.

Thanks guys. I'll try the zip tie method first, and if that doesn't work, the grommet idea sounds good as well. I'm assuming you would need to grease the rubber grommets pretty well to avoid binding.

I ran into this last year restoring my friend's 79,this is what I did.
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...shings-950261/ was helping him change his heater core back in April (what a pain in the a$$) and took some pictures a year later and they still looked in very good shape. |
