nothing, unless you have a GSL-SE.....but thats a different(larger) engine. Anything with a 12a engine will use the same header in an RX7

If you want a bargain, then start watching eBay for your headers, or the for sale section on the forum.

nah, it's better to get it new.

there's nothing like unwrapping your very own, unused, shiney, mint, racing beat header/ exhaust. It almost will make you well up. seriously. it's beautiful.

^^^

Too true. I saw the brand new RB header, and catalytic, for an FC being installed. Thing was beautiful. And sounded great when it got fired up, too.

www.racingbeat.com is definintely the way to go.

Racing Beat racing header is the best one out there for the 12a. Although I have not heard nor seen the Rotary Engineering header. Curious I am...

here you go. split is RE while the other is RB. Notice the difference in the rear?

There are some significant differences. You see how much further it comes out at the engine before it turns that there is good for a few horses. Mindtrain is way better than RB as well. Matt you need to stop spreading parroted knowlege. There are at least 3 better options than Racing beat. Rotary engineering, mindtraid, and SDJ header. SDJ is by far the best in the business.

1) It's an '82, GSL-SE is '84-'85 only
2) You have a 12A. GSL-SE = 13B
3) The badging on the car would tell you.

A 12a header is a 12a header. You have a 12a. Any 12a header will bolt on.

Out of the 4 different aftermarket headers, most of them will need some work to bolt/weld the stock system that is left. The only one that is a direct bolt in, that I know of, is the entire RB system, as they are the only ones tha make a complete bolt in system, even though it does not give the highest hp gain and to me, is a bit to pricey to buy. Especially when I can build my own. I just finished doing a full 3" header back system on the bp, with 2 new Magnaflows, for under $250.

Actually Mindtrain also sells a complete bolt in system. I almost went with them over Racing Beat (quite a bit cheaper), but the guy I talked to kept telling me over and over how loud the system was. It was almost like he was trying to talk me out of it.

After having the RB system for a couple of years now, it doesn't seem quite as loud as I might like it. If I had it to do over again, I would probably try to find somebody that had a mindtrain system just so I could hear it. A little louder might not be too bad...

Which is by no means saying that I am unhappy with my RB system either. But sometimes when you're married to a blonde, brunettes can start looking pretty good...

Well, my new 3" system is loud. Yesterday the little pre-school kid, who calls the widebody the 'Batmobile', asked me why it sounds like that. I simply said that it's built that way. I get a lot of looks from the body kit, now I get even more with the exhaust, some of them are very nasty ones too.
