Head lights

When I shut my lights off and they do thier nifty little "shomp" down.. i hear a hard knock when they finally come to a stop... only from the passenger side though... is there somethign that has maybe broken or somethign that would make this nasty sound? It's as if a rubber gromet is missing and it's hitting metal. Dunno.... thanks.

open the hood, have a friend put them up and down, watch the mechanism and the light seat itself.

Huh, I just thought that sound was normal, same side same noise. I will do the bushing test I guess but he clunk doesn't seem to be hurting anything.

Sounds like the bushing for the headlight is broken and wobbling around. Mine used to do, until I took epoxy to the bushing to hold it to the metal (Lepage epoxy steel). Works great!

That's crazy. My 88 did that since the day I bought it and I couldn't figure it out. I eventually forgot about it since I just kept them down all the time, but to finally find that out, wow.

That's odd mine don't make any noise when I bring them down. I would check the controller arm thingie and bushings on it. (sorry for the lack of technical terms)

Hmmm

OK, so I went out and looked at those arms... they are funky..the bushings arn't doing their job. I think I may just take the motor/arms out and clean them up and reinstall them. How much are those arms/bushings... and can I just pick up a pair or two at autozone?

I was looking for what was causing that on my RX-7 and found out that the ball joint bushings were coming apart. (Little while dudes on the headlight up/down lever.)

My dad pulled out a little baggie that said "Ford" on it. He said he had the same problem on his Probe (1989)...

The parts looked similar.. Wonder if they'll work?
