Hazzards work, Turn Signals don't

Well I just bought her, and the left rear hazzard light was the only one that worked. After playing with it for a bit now all of them work.

The turn signals still don't work though. And when the hazzards are on only the left green arrow on the gauge cluster blinks.

I'm thinking maybe a blown fuse?

Never had this particular problem on my FB, but have had many cars and these symptoms usually come down to only a few possibilities.

Turn signal flasher unit is shot. (you didn't mention if the front signals work)

On some cars, a burnt bulb will cause sort of like a short to the system and then all the signals don't work right.

Bad ground in the turn signal circuit.

Bad wire or short in the turn signal wiring harness.

If you have no signals AT ALL, I would start with the flasher unit. That's the most problematic on almost any car.

probably a relay issue...or fuse...or corroded wire...you'll really have to check them all to be sure which is causing the problem

Would the ilovemyrx7.com wiring.Pdf show me where to look?

Both the front and rear lights work when the hazzards are on, but the turn signals don't work when I flick the toggle up or down. It works if I pull it back for the brights, though.

I'm going to check the fuses first. None of the hazzards worked before I played around with the fusebox just putting some loose ones back in.

I'm trying to be sure I understand your message. When you say the front and rear lights, do you mean the headlights, parking lights or flashing signals? I'm guessing you mean the signals flash on both front and back when the hazard lights are on.

"It works if I pull back..." I presume you mean the signals work when you pull back to highbeams and turn the signals on?

If I've got those two right, then I would be looking at the wiring on the steering column or the combination switch. The combination switch is the unit that operates the highbeams, turn signals and wipers and is under the steering wheel. Most often on an RX, when the combo switch goes (like mine), you have intermittent, or no highbeams but the signals work fine. If your highbeams don't work or are fickle when you push them on (push toward the front of the car, not BACK for flash to pass), then I would suspect the combo switch even more. Do a search on it, and there's instructions on how to clean it. You do not want to buy a new one of these. They range from $219 - $429 from Victoria British depending on the model.
