Like the title says I am having a problem with my rx. I really dont use the car alot pretty much on weekend but when I turn it on it smokes bad (white smoke) it gets worst when I rev it. After a little while of drivig it stops.Another thing is that once in a while the car all the suddent starts acting real weird almost like the car is only running on one rotor(it starts pudering and a great lost of power). I was wondering if anybody know what is going on or if any body could help me with thi problem.

 

Welcome to the forum. The white smoke thing has been covered a lot( use the search function and check out the faq page. You are most likely going to have to get the engine rebuilt. Get a compression test. Good luck.

 

The white smoke could be from injectors leaking while the engine is off. There is also a possibility of a bad coolant seal (burning coolant). What does the smoke smell like? Is it sweet? Does your coolant level drop? It is pretty normal for these cars to smoke some on startup, especially with their age.

The 2nd problem could be injector related as well. If the connector/wiring is bad, the ECU is bad, or one injector is bad, it is possible that only one injector is firing at this point. This causes you to run on half of the engine. I would also take a look at your leading spark (spark plugs in the lower 2 positions). If the leading spark cuts out, the engine will run rough and power will be way down.
