Hard brake line broke

Hey guys, I was doing my rear wheel bearings last night and I stripped the bolt on the hard brake line(army green one) in the rear on the drivers side. So I had to cut it to get it off. I have some SS line and was wondering what you guys thought if I put some of that in between the two hard brake lines and had clamps so it wouldnt leaks. Should I do it or wait to get a new one? This would only be temporary.

i wouldnt do that. if you are repairing a metal line, replace it with a completely new line end to end or cut the bad section out and replace with a good section, taking care to flare each end, new line and old and use a copper union to mate the two together.

I'll wait till I get a new line or do what you suggested. I'd rather be safe than sorry. How do you do the copper union though, like with no leaks or anything. I've never done it. Thanks mazdaverx713b

any time. the copper union is a double ended with femal type recievers. it joins two flared sections of brake lines. i've never had a problem with leaks and have used them many times over the years for brake lines. here's a pic of two of the different types of unions i stock in my garage:

Absolutely. Never try to make-do on brake lines; proper pressure fittings or replace the part only. The pressures involved are too great for a mere hose and clamp to hold.

You risk killing yourself and others when you skimp on brake work. More polite to the innocent bystanders to just go play russian roulette somewhere private.
