Hallaluja!!! She's alive....Finally

Had the day off and decided to finish up on my 85 gsl-se. New pump (again!) filter and lines and she started up today!!!! BUT.... She has no power. Feels like driving my 4 cylinder mazda pickup, sluggish. Runs really smooth with no hesitation but i cant get it to rev past 4,000 rpm or go past 60 on the highway. WTF!!! But hey, I'm happy shes back on the road again. Thanks to everyone on this site that helped me resurect another FB headed for rottville!!! So should i have a mechanic tune it up or let a couple of tanks run through her. I filled it up today and added a can of seafoam. Seems like by now though the injectors should be fairly cleared up (about 1-1.5 hrs drive time).

He replaced the filter, sounds like it's time to start checking for a plugged exhaust.

Check compression.... Is it hard to start? Or does it fire right up? Might be time for a rebuild.

Also Make a WOT pass throw the car into neutral and shut off the ign... (becareful you won't have power breaks!) Once you slow down pop the hood and pull a plug. If it's white your not gett'n fuel if it's black your geting to much... If it's brownish, look elsewhere IE timing etc...

Good luck...

156,000 on what appears original exhaust except for aftermarket muffler thats rusted out. I'll try getting it up to 60 then killing it, but it wont be wide open, as its only reving 4k. I've had 2 mechanics tell me the cats are plugged though. They said they'd bet money on it!!!

Oh yeah, Havnt done compression check, But I believe it is excellent. Car starts as soon as you turn the key with no excess cranking. I mean it is immediate. The car has been taken extremely good care of. I know the last 2 owners and they were religous about changing the oil and fluids on schedule. Gonna unbolt the exhaust today and **** off the neighbors !!!!
