? for guy's who got they 80 engine to work with mazda oil pressue sending unit?

Hey I just finished my custom made adapter to accept the mazda oil sending unit, as most of u know that the 80 does not comes with a oil gauge and a sending unit. Anyway I made my 80 to accept the 82 gauge cluster that comes with oil gauge and custom made an adapter to accpet the sending unit. This is what I did drill the rear oil line bolt and tap it. I have thread good for the sending unit but I use a white teflon tape on it so it won't leak? Now for my ?,what other seal can I use beside the teflon tape? I have test it and rev the engine and I don't see any sign's of oil leaking but with the rotary heat u never know what can happen to the teflon tape? thanks, khris

Sounds like an interesting idea. I have an 80' engine as well and I'm going ot need to do something abut the oil guages. What you did is a good way to save $45.

Are you saying that you drilled and tapped the banjo bolt that attaches the oil cooler line? That shouldn't get too hot to cause a problem with teflon tape.

I saw one in the junk yard like that. He had a liquid sealant on there. White stuff, kinda like what you would put on pipe threads. Probably the same stuff.

also, what you can do is add a "T" on the banjo bolt fitting to accommodate for a stock oil pressure and after market gauges.

Or buy an oil distribution block from Steve at www.rotaryautosports.com . They look great and work great too .
