the electrical **** will be different, the mounting points are different on 12a's and 13b's. the shifter on 81-85 models is like 2 inches further back than 79 and 80.

yeah but racing beat sell a front braket, i dont remeber the name now, is for to put a 13b into a 12a chassis, and u can use the stock 79 tranny and mazdatrix sell a adapter to put 12a carb and manifold into a 13b 6port engine. so you dont have to mess with the wiring harness

well here's the deal guys, I'm getting any parts I need out of my friends car in the pic below it was an 84 gsl-se. SO I will get the engine with computer/wires ect.
I just want to make sure to get everything I need before we scrap the car.

The car was in front of his house when some kids were being chased for a drug deal gone bad. they rammed the rx7 going about 100mph, pushed it into another car 50ft in front and pushed that car into a van!!

cool.
i just figured i would take a stab at it. you can still use the tranny from that car if it isnt fucked up, but i guess you gotta do some trimming to the car to fit it. it will be at the back of the shifter surround plastic peice, instead of in the middle, there is no need to get a different tranny. i dont know anything about the drive shaft though. i know for sure you can make that tranny work though.

if you have the car, then you don't need to buy a front bracket from Mazdatrix ... they basically sell you the SE front bracket. you don't NEED to use the SE tranny, but if you want to, then yes, you'll have some trimming to do.

just make sure that the oil pan has not been cracked by the accident!
