GSL-SE Wheel Backspacing? Keizer Wheels.

I am thinking about getting a set of either 2 pc., or 3pc. Keizer ALuminum racing wheels (13"x8" or 15"x7") for auto-x. I wanted to find out what the correct backspacing for my 84 GSL-SE is. I think 4" was what I was told, but I wanted to be sure.

THis is what I have dug up for the stock GSL-SE wheels, but I couldn't find a backspacing figure anywhere:

14x6" size
4x114.3 mm bolt holes (or 4x4.5" bolt circle)
35mm offset
59.6 mm hub bore

Also if anyone has a set of used keizer wheels for a GSL-SE I'd be interested. I'm not sure if I want 13" inch or 15" yet. 13" would limit my tire choice to Hoosier only, while 15" would allow me to use Kumho, Hoosier, and more.

Thanks,

Derek

using 13x8s you need 4 inch backspacing.

with 13x8s you can get either hoosier radials or bias, or you can get kumho ecsta v700 size 235/45-13 for $100 each. they stick just as well as the hoosiers, maybe a tenth of a second or so slower on the course, but they work great!

go w/ the 13x8s...

you can get hoosiers or kuhmos. both work great, and the smaller wheels help gearing. besdies 13" are cheaper.

I don't know about clearance issues. I just thought they would work because I have seen other RX-7's use them, but now that you brought it up, they wern't GSL-SE's.

Thanks for the info guys on the tires. I was just looking on tirerack.com for sizes, and I didn't see any 13" Kuhmo's for 13"x8" wheels. Where do you buy them from?

i'd have to search for the thread, but i was skeptical before i got mine too, there was a long thread with a bunch of good links in it a while back. anyways i did get 13x8 diamond racing wheels. the calipers are not the problem, it's the dust sheilds around them. the wheels should fit without a problem, they did for me, but i did hear one guy had to take his sheilds off so they wouldnt rub. i had to take the mudflaps off the front because they would rub when i turned the wheel, but i have every thing set now and there is no rubbing at all.

you can buy the kumhos or hoosiers at tirerack.com look under competition tires section. i use the diamond racing wheels, 13x8 4" backspace on my non SE brakes and it sticks real good. i just took my dust shields off when i redid the brakes, gets more air into the brakes = cooler.

stay away from the keizer rims, i have talked to several owners and they say the keizers don't hold air very well. have to keep inflating the tires. pain.

and the diamonds are reasonably strong, not to mention lightweight and CHEAP. your friends with panasports will be jealous.

Where can I buy Diamond Wheels? I went to the web site and couldn't find any dealer links. Any online dealers?

How much do Diamond wheels weigh in the 13"x8" size?

I and many others use the mini stocks which are 14lbs in 13x8.

What kind of springs do you have on your car in the picture??? It sits nice and level. Mine is high in the back for some reason. The car is gutted so that might have something to do with it.

What size Diamond wheels are on the car in the picture???
