the Cam Girl is sexier, but credit where credit is due that's a well planned, well executed swap... even if it is Detroit Iron. Nice attention to detail

Oh, and nice rims too. They look familiar, for some reason...

350 hp in a 2600 lb car, and he's running 14's ? Someone needs some tires, or some skills. I like the radiator though, I need something like that.

well... one could argue all mazdas are sorta kinda powered by Ford, but thats an angels/pin arguement

Edit: I'm not enamoured of the more than 5% front weight bias imparted by the swap

Mmm cam girl, I'm still trying to figure out how to tile her on my background and have the .gif work. If anyone runs into her before I do, let her know that...I'd hit it.

in Canada you could, but in the 'states I suspect she's jail bait - looks younger than the 17 year old Avril Lavigne lookalike I have on my staff

By the way, I not against V8 swaps.

I just think they shouldn't be in RX-7's.

I think old skool 280's are the best candidates.

I love Darius's superchared V8 powered 240Z best.

I'd prefer to put a newer inline 6 into a Z car - after all, they were made for one, just could benefit from more grunt... there are tone of 200hp+ inline sixes out now

I agree. I'm a purist so the engine has to be from the same manufacturer plus the RB series of engines are perfect for such a swap.

I was also just reading that the guys in Japan are squeezing over 350hp from the L series engine's in the old Z's in atmo form. That means no nitrous either.

That is the slave cylinder for the clutch. 302 v8 t5's used a cable operated clutch. When you swap in a 302, it is easiest to use a new master and slave set-up.

The L28 inline six that was in my old 280zx was almost indestructible. 7 main bearings!!! Big *** bearing in between each piston. Car weighed a ton though (about 2900 lbs i think, can't remeber now) That six would scream for a boinger.

THat would be almost a ton and a half. Sorry... SOMEONE was gonna say it.

1 ton = 2000 lbs.

Even a stock 5.0 from a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis puts out over 250ft-lbs of torque at 2500 RPM. That gets compounded when you take into acount the very low gearing in the Mazda rear axle and you wonder how the car can ever get moving without smoking the tires through the first three gears! And that's with an automatic!!! I find nothing wrong with swapping the rotary out. Sure I like rotaries. Nobody here wouldn't want a ported 13BT or 20B but not everybody can afford them. And besides, the 5.0 swap is completely reversible. Nothing gets permanently modified to put one in. Hell if I don't win the f^#$% lottery, how else am I gonna experience that kind of torque?
