GSL-SE stalling

i tried to search but i couldnt find anything for the EFI, i cranks everytime, but it wont idle when its cold at all, i guess thats suppose to be normal? or can you fix that, im new to the RX, anyway if i give it gas and hold the idle up it runs fine, let of the gas and it will die, sometimes even once its warmed up it does the same, it will idle but every once in awhile when i goto stop and push the clutch in and let the car roll to a stop the engine dies, starts right back fine though, i used carb cleaner to check for vac leaks, didnt find any, the car also runs alittle strange, holding the idle at around 3grand it makes a poping sound, its not backfiring or very loud but the engine shakes when it does it, maybe its normal for these cars i dont know

oh yeah, 85 GSL-SE 13b blah blah

it should idle a little high while it's cold until it gets warmed up then it should idle at 750. check the FAQ at the top of the page to find the thread about gslse idle problems.

i tried the faq, but the link wont work? or is it just my comp
http://www.nellump.net/peri/epi/firs...gslseIdle.html that link
i tried the other links but mine is doing something different, it doesnt idle high when it cranks, it dosnt idle at all lol it revs up when it first starts to about 2grand then it drops to 1grand then idles really rough and slowly drops then dies, if i keep it running holding the gas once it warms up sometimes it will idle, sometimes it wont, could it be the fuel filter being so old? or maybe the fuel pump, everything is clean and i dont have a vac leak

Might want to start with the basic tuneup items just to get this narrowed down (cap, rotor, plugs). Also, see if you have spark on your leading ignition, and verify that the timing is correct. Hit those up, and there's a good chance that she'll be running better for you.

I agree 100%. Tune up parts first. The rough running while cruising at 3k sounds like TPS adjustment.

As far as the occasional stalling, my car did the same thing when I first bought it. The previous owner adjusted the idle speed waayyy too low. After I tuned the car up, I checked the throttle chamber for carbon buildup. It was caked with carbon. The primary throttle plate would stay open a fraction most of the time. When the plate would close all of the way every once in a while, my car would die. I cleaned out all of the carbon buildup in the throttle chamber and readjusted the idle. It did the trick.

Third thing, get a Mazda workshop manual. It's worth the expense. You'll learn a ton about your car. Good luck!
