GSL-SE idle held by cruise control

Been working on the mound today trying to fix the cruise control and set the idle and get everything tweaked. I've replaced the t-connector to my cruise control and fixed a vaccuum leak. As suspected the idle dropped so I tweaked it back up with the idle adjustment screw (air screw). I can get it to idle steadily at about 800 RPM. However, the idle is being held by the cruise control cable, which doesn't seem right to me. I haven't been out on the highway yet to see if my cruise works properly.

So, what controls the position of the idle, mechanically? Is there a stop screw, or is it held in place by the throttle cable, cruise cable, or something else? I assume that it should be held by a stop of somekind, and both the throttle cable and cruise cable should have just a bit of slack in them at idle, so they are not holding it. Is this correct?

Right on

On my 85 gsl-se, theres a screw on the front of the tb, hidden near the opposite side of the cruise control linkage. , if your tb is gettin worn out, you have to manually screw that in, no more than an eighth a turn a time, then check idle of car, do this while off. then fine tune your idle with aas on top of tb.

You may want to use the dashpot adjustment rather than the cruise control cable to hold the rpms if all else fails.
