GSL-SE high idle after deleting cone filter

I replaced a cone filter with the stock airbox on my '85 SE this morning and now it idles steady at ~1800rpm.

Any ideas? This car is new to me, so still learning.

something not letting the AFM door close all the way?

previous idle settings are set for the "high flow" of cone filter, & new OEM replacement has changed this?

AFM was not on horizontaly, allowing gravity to pull the flapper door down, and causing improper readings, and now that the AFM is properly mounted, it's different relative to how the idle's set

I'd start by going through the FSM & propery setting the idle: http://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/1st_g...erformance.pdf

should have your info

GL!

Thanks for the info! Now that I think about it, the hose clamp from the tube to the AFM was totally loose, which I fixed during this process. Maybe the PO adjusted the idle to compensate for the 'calibrated leak.'

I'll follow the procedure and see what happens.
