GSL-SE fuel and reving problem

ok i've searched but havent found what the problem is yet. my car an 85 gsl-se is starting to get on my last nerve, ok for starters it has a new autozone replacement fuel pump which is kinda loud, louder than i think it should be. the tank and the lines are clean and a new fuel filter. and ive been putting seafoam in the gas to make sure its clean, a few days after replaceing the filter it started acting up like the filter was dirty already so i got another new one but before i replaced it, i unhooked the fuel line and put it into a gallon jug and turned the switch on, after one min it had only filled up about 1/8 of the way but the fuel was clean, so i changed the filter. with the new filter on i tried the jug test again a couple of times and every time i got about 1/4 of the gallon jug filled. so i take the car down the road to see what happens, as im testing the car i take it to red line in 1st through 3rd gear a couple of times and its fine then it starts to act up again like the filter is starting to get stopped up again, cause it starts to take longer to get to red line after about 6000. so i come home do the jug thing again now im back to getting 1/8 of it filled still getting clean gas in the jug. also it might worth noting the pump runs a lil quieter when its pumping gas in the jug instead of being hooked up. thanks for any and all help.

Sounds like your fuel tank and in-tank fuel filter might need some cleaning/replacing perhaps or a fuel line problem.

It's not as noisy in the jug because it's not going through the entire system and no pressure. I never had this problem with my SE, even when it sat for 15 years with old gas in it. But I have read many posts about this problem, and it seems to come back to either the tank itself, (just has too much crud in it), or the screen/sock in the tank. If the tank is cruddy, you will continue to have this problem. Drop the tank, look inside, and also look at the pick-up/return tubes to see if they're free.
