GSL-SE fuel pump relay?

OK, so Im just begining to dig into the world of the -SE and I noticed that the fuel pump on my car runs as soon as you turn the key to the ON position. Now being used to my 12a car I thought this was weird since those pumps only come on once you start cranking, are the -SE's different or did the PO rig it up like this??

The guy who owned it prior to me had installed a fuel cut switch so I figure if Im right thinking the pump shouldnt come on with the ignition, I may know how to track it down.

Maybe he installed the cut switch in place of the relay. Not uncommon and would explain why the fuel pumps as soon as the key is on the on position.

Where IS the GSL-SE Fuel Pump Relay located?? I get no power to my pump unless I jumper it... Need to make sure it's got a relay still since it's been this way since I bought.

I know you probably already did this, but just in case, check to make sure the PO did not leave a jumper in the fuel pump relay by the air cleaner box.

You're talking about the little connector that isn't connected to anything, that you jumper to test the pump flow and pressure, right?

OK, pulled the rear bin and found the connector to the pump unplugged. Plugged back in, and then I turn the key on, it's setup so the pump comes on and stays on. My understanding of the GSL-SE is that this isn't how it's supposed to happen, RIGHT? If I turn the key on and don't immediately start it, I'll have a flooded engine, RIGHT?

First, a little history on the car: It's an 83 GSL, with the engine, transmission, and ENTIRE interior from an 85 GSL-SE (including dash!) The PO installed a racing fuel pump on it, but the fuel rail, injectors, pulsation damper, and pressure regulator are all stock GSL-SE. Since I can't find the relay, I've got to assume they didn't move it over for some reason, like maybe they planned on putting a cut-off switch in. So, I'm going to hunt down a relay. When I get it, where do I pull the wires from, to connect it so it works properly? I'm assuming I'll have to go custom and pull each wire separately, and will try to locate this back to the location it's supposed to go into.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Near as I can figure the fuse for the SE fuelpump is the nearest fuse in the LeftHand row in the fusebox under the dash. Anyway, I pulled it out, cranked the engine a dozen revs, replaced it and the engine started. Seems to solve the SE flood problem. Also a convenient way to cufoff car thieves when leaving the car parked.

Now to find the fuse for the 12A...

If the injectors are in good condition, they will not leak and flood. Unless you want to sit down with the wiring diagrams for the 2 different years and versions and wire around that, a simple fuel cut switch might be your easiest solution.

My '83 12A (completely stock) fuel pump comes on when the ignition key is turned on. I let it pump for about 10 seconds before I start cranking the engine.
