GSL-SE fuel level sender

Okay, how does one take off the clip for the fuel level sender? My tank is so rusted I'm afraid of using any force with it (actually, I managed to crack a small piece already).

As well, what is the chance of cutting/welding to save this tank?

You push in the release and pull the connector. Yeah it'll probably break but its trashed anyway. The green is corrosion on copper. It's eroded all the copper wiring anyway. It'll have to be replaced. No telling what the terminals look like under the connector. Either roll the dice and unhook it or follow the wires back through the grommet and cut them. Solder them back together when your done. Vinegar and light mix of baking soda will clean the green off. But if that tank is that bad on the outside. It's probably a goner inside.

Thanks. I'll follow the wires and cut them and deal with it later.

If it's any indication, the gas that came out of the drain was crystal clear, so hopefully the tank is pretty clean inside. Getting a replacement tank is next to impossible in Canada.

There's a place in Canada that makes new tanks but not for a 7. Getting a new or reproduction tank is impossible anywhere

honest!! that tank looks bad!!!! ill look for a good use one and go from there!!
I already done 4 tank's... 1 i wash them good with water and soap...2 I fill the tank with water and cut the tank open right after the factory pinch weld with a cut off wheel ...3 now clean the tank, wire wheel or sandblasts....4 align the tank and brace it back together with copper bracing rod...5 ck for leaks with a little water around the inside, dry with rag and paint....Brand new tank....
is a lot of parting out car's....to easy...man...

There are fuel tank reconditioning shops that will clean and coat the inside of the tank, and even offer a guarantee. Your tank may be too far gone, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
