GSL-SE Alternator

What alternators are interchangeable or a good upgrade for the GSL-SE. The one I picked up this weekend needs one.

I only have extra 12A alts left, so if I have to buy one I'd like to get a better one. What is the output rating for the '85 GSL-SE alternator? Will the S4 or S5 alt fit and be a good swap?

The SE is 60A. S4 N/A is the same. S4 TII is 70A. S5s are 80A.

The S4 TII is drop-in (wiring and fitment). The S5s only need a slight wiring change to work. I'm using the S5 alt in my SE and it works great. If you go S5, there is a write-up by 85FB in the archive. You can also get more info about the alts by searching for "s5 alt" under my username.

You can also use a FD alt, but the pulley needs to be adapted to work. The FD alts are wired the same as S5. The FD alts can do 100A or so.

I actually just checked my parts bin in the garage and pulled out an N370 alternator.

S5 T2 80AMP, so i'll be doing the swap. I'm glad I held onto a lot of my old parts. Glad to see you're in VA too, maybe we'll run into one another sometime once I get my GSL-SE running better.

Thanks for detail...
