Got it running, still starting problem

I FINALLY got my 84 rx running. it still has a starting issue. You can give her a squirt if starting fluid and she will start right up and idle when it warms up, otherwise it will just keep turning over with no fire. I did rebuilt the carb, it was the second one i have done and i have checked and rechecked the float levels. Everyone is telling me the carb should squirt fuel when you press the gas pedal when starting, i dont see anything squirting while trying to start. This seems to be the only problem i have left and been trying for a few weeks to fix it. I have replaced plugs, wires and all that fun stuff. I have gone over and over the carburetor tranning manual several times and also fuel and emissions in the fsm. any suggestions?

it should squirt fuel in there when cranking if you press the pedal. Check your ap circuit is working right.

The AP gets it's fuel supply from a port at the bottom of the rear fuel bowl. That port is low enough that it can plug with debris that builds up in the bowls. From there the fuel goes through the AP then the passageways that connect it to the 2 ***** and weights, and finally to the AP squirters themselves. The most common reason for the AP not to squirt is a leaking diaphram, which will show as a fuel leak at the AP unit on the outside of the carb. After that, it's usually one or more of the ***** and weights that are sticking in thier passages. or the jets at the squrters are plugged.
