Got new Rex & Im Depressed
not to sound like a geek or nerd or anything but the whole convo reminds me of a computer problem i ran into when i was paid to setup a computer network for Byson INC CO. i must first state that i am not into computers. i learned how to fix them as well as how to do a lot of things b/c i didn't want to pay someone to do it. i've learned nearly how to build an entire house. my dad has built a house for us about 10 years ago with my uncles. they did all the work themselves. and now we are renivating the whole thing. but i don't want a carrear in it just cuz i know what i'm doin. same with computers.
ANYWAYS. this convo reminded me when i went to a meeting and asked them what kinda platform for computers that they wanted to run. i said "i won't let you use mac.s b/c some of your programs won't run on them andi personaly don't like them. so AMD or P4?"
rx7 or honda?
my decision is obvious.

I have a 99 Honda Civic and it is a blast to drive and it gives me 48 mpg so I don't complain.
I love driving my rex more though not because it is faster, because I don't think it is, but because it is a cool car to drive and not everyone has one.

How did this become a Honda vs RX7 thread?
Why not make it a Mazda vs RX7 thread. Crap, when Honda owner's were bragging about fuel economy, Mazda's were both CHEAPER and FASTER. Doesn't anybody remember the cheap, fast and fun 323 and 626/mx6 turbos? To this day, I still scratch my head in wonder at how Honda's somehow became synonymous with import performance, when Mazdas in almost any form were just as fun to drive, faster in certain stock forms, just as reliable when maintained properly and cheaper to buy.
Anybody remember the mid 80's SCCA?- the low power class was dominated by the very light and easily modded GLCs.
For $3k I can buy an old high mileage Civic DX hatch, or a sweet 88/89 323 GTX or 90 Miata. What gives? At what point did customizing your car to be an individual mandate that we all start with the exact same canvas?

I bought my car for 1,000...the body was in good shape but the engine well....was ready for another...
With a bit of money and time...and love for the car....it will pay off...
I was told the difference between a rotary and a piston engines was that.....piston engines kinda give you a warning when they want to poop out....and rotarys really don't..."In short" so to speak...
I have a 13B with a camden supercharger in mine....and pretty much restorded the whole car....and is sure worth it....
My car is the dark blue one with the supercharger in it...
Your uncle is so so wrong....
Take care

Your uncle was right... most people here will vehemently deny it, but the early Civic Si's and CRX Si's ('86 and '87) not only keep up with the 12A car in a straight line, they'll embarass them if you throw turns into the mix.

The Honda's that are dominating the Improved Touring A class are not the 85-87 civics and crx's. Those could not keep up with most top running rotary powered ITA cars. The cars that you *claim* to dominate are the 88-91 cars.
Besides the fact that the IT class weight structure is a formula based on the factory curb weight of the vehicle. The SCCA does not currently deviate from this and you end up with 1980 pound crx's racing against 2380 pound Rx7's with close to 10 years difference in the automotive engineering of the two.
Like I said - I am not trying to start a war about this - Just wanted to make sure everyone new the facts.
BTW, Mr BiG G, good vehicle choice, Keep up with the maintenance and you will be happy.
