Got myself into a little trouble....help!

Well, I was cleaning my engine bay today and decided I didn't need a smog pump anymore. Without reading up first, I removed it.

Then came in and noticed that this will over temp the exhaust. So knowing I had 600 of new exhaust straight from victoria british I got to wrenching on the exhaust. (The previous owner had just put these on.)

Now I'm open exh manifold. and have a few questions.

Where is the best place (and by that I mean cheapest!) to buy the pulleys needed after removal of the smog pump? And which pulleys exactly do I need? Also what size belts?

I have the factory mufler (new) on the car. Since I removed all the cats how loud is the car going to be with just the stocker muffler? I'm not to concerned with performance this is a daily driver so I assume I'll need a silencer? What type would you all reccomend?

you will either need a dual alternator pulley and then another stock size alt belt, OR buy a 3/8 by 22 inch belt. Most people on ere call it 3L220 or a Yoohoo belt. The reason you need an extra alt belt is because this same belt runs the water pump as well. Without the smog pump, there isnt as much tension on the water pump pulley as needed and at higher rpms, it will squeel.

As for the exhaust. Alot of people are really pleased with anything Racing Beat, myself included. Some like to build their own. Either way it will most likely be louder than stock (as long as it flows better). For specific mufflers, I personally am not sure as I am using an Ebay fart can, and let me tell you its loud...

The stock muffler with hollow cats will sound like a drummers convention held in a cannery.(this is a place where stuff is put into tin cans)

this is experiance talking.

Does it effect the AC belt at all? Is there a picture some where I can look at? All the pics I see don't have the Ac compressor installed....

My exhaust system had a hollow cat(previous owner did it)..sounded good..I had to put a cat on for emissions purposes..it lowered the level of"noise",(if you want to call it that)..Without a catalytic though, you will find that you will smell fumes from the exhaust more(fuel vapors,exhaust..)since the cat is no longer there to absorb it..additionally,if you have to go for another emissions test,I would not be throwing out or selling the CAT,as you will need it again for the test..a little heads up for ya..

How loud would you say it was? Could you carry on a conversation easily in the car? Did it have the droning hum on the highway? I'm not saying I want a silent car but I've got a loud race car. I want to hear the stereo, people talking, and not get a headache on hour long car rides.

Thanks for the heads up but I live in an emission free state. And if I move I know how to make it pass anyway.

Appreciate the info!
