Good Deal?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it looks like it is to me...

I have the chance to buy a 1st gen RX7, not sure on the year, model, or options. All I know is that it's red, has a manual, bad brakes and the engine seals are bad. He might take 400 for it. If I get it, I plan on swapping in a 13b Turbo engine, some deep dish rims, flares, and mirrors on the fenders. Does this seem like a good deal for it?

I am new to rotary engines work, but have a basic understanding of them. So any or things to look for on them would be welcome.

Prolly not worth it.. But go take a look at it.. if it is really clean it might be worth it.. Check fender wells for rust. (Most likely there is tons)

I see running ones go for 400-1000 all the time.

I picked up my '85 GS with severe engine problems and failing brakes for $137 off ebay.....the engine as it turned out did work (and well) and the last guy just couldn't figure out the starter wiring....

It was rusted to **** and i'm chopping it into pieces, but if the one you are looking at is not in decent shape, or is a GSL or GSL-SE, i'd say you could probobly find a better deal elsewhere if you look hard enough.. good luck!

I have bought a fabulous condition 85 GSL for $250 and a beater 84 GSL for $175, both run fine.

The thing is, I'm not searching. The opportunity arose and I'm thinking about taking it.

The downside is I'll end up having 2 cars at 16 years old. Friggin insurance will be around 200 a month.

I'll hopefully be getting this guys email address tonight so I can find out the exact specs, and my dad said he'd take me out to see it. I'll take pics when I do.

EDIT: Also, I do know he originally bought it non-running for 300. He then got it running again, so that's why I'm thinkin 350 to 400 bucks for it.

*doublepost*

Update:

Sounds like I'll be able to get it for around 300-350 the more I think about it. I'll get the guy's phone number for sure this weekend, and then I'll set up a day I can go take a look at it.

My friend told me it looks really nice....just the engine and brakes are shot. The more I think about it, the more anxious I get.

Man do what YOU want!! There is always going to be a better deal somewhere. Like my pops told me when I bought my first vechicle(jetski) I got it for 300 plus trailor. But it was what I wanted. 2 weeks later someone saw mine and told me they would sell me thiers for 200 it was in better condition and it ran. There maybe a better deal out there, but you dont know if its gonna come your way. So if it is what you want, Then any deal is a good deal!

I just bought my second 7 now for 400 it doesnt run, parts are missing. Body is in a ok state. But you know what, when I look out there, I see a great deal because that is what I wanted!

So go ahead and look if you dont want you dont have to buy. But if its what you want. GET IT

I hope this helps!

PS There isnt a day where I regret getting any of my vechicles! 3 jetskis, 3 cars

I just got done talking to the guy who owns it. Turns out, it's an FC. So, maybe one of the mods or admins could move this topic?
