Going from an FC to an FB

Hey my TII just blew up so I was thinking of getting an FB. I was wondering if there were parts from my 87 FC that I could put in the FB.

Like I know I saw one with the TII seats and then in the FAQ there was the alternator I believe. Anything else? Basically what should I keep around?

Keep the alternator, and the leading coil. Search 2GCDFIS, I have done it, and really like it.

Alot of things swap, the transmission, brakes, if you buy a Respeed style brake conversion kit... The T2 trans is a popular upgrade as it is much stronger...

The main fuse box, as the FB has fusible links...

The front and rear suspension have been swapped, but that requires a large amount of fabrication. Im sure there is more that I am forgetting as well...

and keep the engine, since rebuilding a 12A is getting more difficult as time passes and the 13B is the next best swap, esp. a turbo version in a lighter chassis. unfortunately you are limited in the drivetrain past the transmission.

Thank you! So As far as the brake conversion goes do you mean the calipers or everything?

Yeah, I dunno where I would put it, otherwise I likely would.

That car looks VERY quickly painted and shittily done. Id be worried about body rot and bondo judging from the paint job in the pics.

Hey, another MN guy posting in here, nice to see you're thinking of going FB! I'd be willing to take that TII motor off your hands, just saying. If it needs a home I have space and cash.

Anyyyways, this is an awesome car and would be worth about 3k easily
1984 GSL with Mesh rims

Here's another one in that ballpark, worth asking price I think
81 RX7 with 48K

Mileage isn't posted, and I would guess it has been in a serious accident with half of it that other paint color.

It is worth calling and taking a look at I guess, but I wouldn't buy it unless I was planing to repaint it.

Eh, all 3 from MN. Didn't notice at first. Still haven't seen another RX out on the roads yet this summer. Anyhow, I like both the ones you posted. In the long run dropping the extra grand or two for either of the posted ones would be well worth it. Especially that one they are asking ~3800. Looks Like that car has been treated well, and the engine looked clean and well maintained.

Yeah I saw those, And if I wasn't dropping 6k on a Yamaha R1 they would be on my to get list. And we can talk about the engine deal in some PM's maybe.

Thanks guys for the input. I actually am considering this one now.

But I cant tell what model it is. Do yall think it has the LSD in it? What should the rotors put out on a piston compression tester? Like 90+?(with 3 even hits)

from what i'v seen on the fourms 90 is about right. also the GSL model has the LSD talk to the seller and ask him what the trim level is. DONT ask him if its a GSL see if he knows what it is first... also if you can crawl under the car there should be a sticker on the diff (if it hasent fallen off.) that will say if its a LSD or not. if you cant jack the rear tires off the ground and spin the axel if it spins in the same direction then you have a LSD if it spins in oposit then its open. also if its got disk's on the back then its most likely a LSD

I think you mean $900. But okay, that's good to know about the sticker, thanks! And yeah, he has no clue what he has. When I asked him about the trim he said "uhh, its got a rotary in it". Me"yup I know"..(really guy?)

if its an 84, its got power mirror (one is broken...) and a sunroof, which means it can't be an S model.

it doesn't have a rear wiper, which means its not a GSL.

so that would make it a GS, although its wearing an 81-83 front airdam/apron, a really bad paint job, and the pictures aren't very good, so i'd show up thinking its a GS, and you've got a 10% chance its a GSL and an 80% chance its a POS

Make that a 100% chance...Good god, it sputtered when I stepped on it, the clutch fan was gone, and none of the instrument panel worked. Yet he still wanted $800 for it. Either way the search continues...
