Going back to FB

Man its going to be difficult bouncing back from the 2nd to 1st gen sections. I bought a '81 GS for $200 (It runs great too!) and I'm stoked about rebuilding it. All new suspension and tires are on the way and I'm going to start body work on it right away. Now I'm unfamiliar with 12A's (even though my previous car was a FB) so I'm planning on dropping a carb'd 6 port 13B. Now I was pretty lazy with the search so I'll ask the questions. Will the stock drivetrain handle a street ported 13B with dual carbs? And also if I run a S4 6 port motor can I get away with not requiring any ECU bullshit?

Dual carbs? Why dual carbs. You only need a single holley 650 or Weber 51 IDA. But no, you won't need any ECU if you go carb. As for the drivetrain, I think it would hold, but not totally sure. Thats why I'm going with a TII tranny in my swap, which is similar to yours. Stock rear end is fine to about 300 hp.

put a 4-port 13b motor in it instead, along with a 51 IDA. cant get much sicker than that.
flawless victory!

The stock drivetrain will handle it. The only thing as you allready know is to run a
performance clutch pack.
If you are going to put a 6 port in why not use the S5 motor. It has higher compression and the lightened rotors. And as others have stated a single carb is all you need. No injection, no ECU, very simplified. Happy rotaring. rx7doctor

Carb will likely make more power than FI anyway. According to RB, the 6 port 13B with a holley 600 on it makes as much power as a S4 TII without porting!
