Getting ready to take out the rats nest but one question

Ok Ill be ripping into my car tomorrow with a few tasks at hand.

1. Rats nest removal
2. fix the intake coolant leak
3. changing the thermostat
4. install header/presilencer
5. replace oil cooler
6. and possibly mechanical secondaries

I was going over the rats nest removal page. (made a donation thanks for the info) I ran into one problem while i was reading it. I have a 1980 RX-7 and dont have that many solenoids. Would anyone be able to tell me which one is for my A/C. Im assuming it the last one but that just an assumption.

Thanks,
Sean

Factory hoods have descriptions on them. So should the FSM for that year. I have neither an 80 hood, nor the FSM, so I'll wait for Carl or someone else to give an answer

I beleive it was the one closest to the driver, should have a white dot on top. My memory is foggy I took that junk out so long ago...I can check my Haynes later if no one else chips in.

hey guys i just removed my acv and my anti after burn valve today and made my own block off plate and capped everything, but the nest is still on there, and its running like total garbage, doesn't idle at all, also i don't have air conditioning, so do i need any of the solinoids, or can i take all of them out?

also what kind of tuning should be done after removing the emmisions, sorry for stealing the thread, but i need some help.

Thanks

Unless you want cruise control, you can gut all of the solenoids.

As for tuning, wait and see how it runs with everything pulled. I had an idle issue prior, so we pretty much reset and retweaked mixture and idle at the same time.

OK I got it all out and all the other stuff completed except for the secondaries. i ran into something funny. the shutter valve on a 1980 is there one? if so i seem to be missing one.

hey matty, I had to trouble shoot to get mine running again. Keep looking on the carb you probably missed on of the vaccum plugs. (I did it was hiding) here is what I had going on. wouldnt idle, barely would stay running above 1500 RPM. could use the choke to keep it going but it was pulled out about 2/3rds of the way out.
If this is what you are going threw look for a vacuum leak. lose hose or such.
