Getting the FB track ready for next year.
Well after drifting the 85 bone stock a couple times I have decided to go ahead and buy more parts for it. I have collected small things like the 2nd gen coilpack stuff to make my exhaust and so on. Just the small things.
Sadly I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to wheels. Do to the rx's super sweet 4x110 bolt pattern I am pretty limited on what wheels I can get. The ones I am looking at are...
http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/pro.html
I know they are heavy and such but Id rather put more money into suspension than having pretty rims. I have searched and havent really found what I was looking for. Any one have a idea what the blackspacing and offset would be for the 15x7's all around on a FB? Also how much wider are 15x7's than the stock 13's?
Another issue, I have ran across a first gen rotting in a hill billy scrap yard. It has all around disc brakes but still has the 12a like my car. Did all first gens with disc brakes all around has LSD's or just the GSL-SE's with the 13b?
Also is there a difference in the rear end like axle sizes or anything?
Thanks ahead of time, Sorry if this stuff has been covered a ton of times. I could just be terrible at searching.
Also I have the 12a version 85, just to make sure that is clear :P

check out the rota RB, it comes in 4x110 too.
there are a couple threads on wheel sizing, but basically the 4x110 cars came with a 13x5.5" 20 offset wheel.
i have 15x7 7 offest on mine, and it looks cool, but more room for tire with a bigger offset, like 15x7 20....
i'm running 225-45-15's
the GSL models, came with, among other things, rear disc brakes and a limited slip diff.
in 84 and 85, they also had the GSL-SE model, which had larger brakes all the way around. the GSL-SE is vented rear disc, with wheel studs, the gsl is solid rear with lug bolts
the 84-85's do have larger axle bearings and shafts, but the whole thing will swap as a unit

That's basically how I want my wheels stanced though. When it comes to wheels though, the cheaper the better. I chance ruining wheels if I blow a tire or hit a hole/drop off ect sideways.

I don't deal with offset since it changes with wheel width. Backspacing is a constant. 4" backspacing is still 4", even on a 3" wide wheel. You can push 4-1/2" on the front, 5" on the rear Any more than that then it's time for coilovers.

If it's going to be for track use and the engine/tranny is pretty much stock, I'd stay with 13". You'll get better acceleration and I still haven't run out of top gear yet at tracks like Road Atlanta and Sebring. I've been tossing the idea of 15x7, but I didn't see a need since I never haven't run out of gearing yet.
I have a set of the Diamond Racing and Circle Racing Wheels. 13x7. I usually run 225-45-13 hoosiers. Very Sticky! Also have a set of Enkie's that I have Toyos RA1s on.
You can always get a set of adapters. They're hard to find, but I finally found my a set of 4x110 to 4x100. Open up more possibilities. I just haven't used them yet.
