Gentlemen! Lend me your FMIC and FMOC setup pics.

You see what it says. Do it. Please. I'd prefer to see them both, together, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm especially interested in Directfreak's.

My fmoc pics are in my write up in the archives. Link is in my sig line. With the way the front air dam is set up on the widebody, I can mount an fmic either in front or behind the fmoc in the future.

I'm thinking FMOC should go in front of FMIC, what do you think?

Behind, you want as much cool air as possible for the air intake, the oil temp runs hotter anyway.

I just leave my fmoc in the stock location, no problems there. the ic is so hidden under in the front that the only picture possible is when it is taken aoart. Basically imagine a 3'' ic sitting infront of the radiator and you get the picture

on slammedgsl and hyper4mance2k's fb I know they moved them infront of the radiator and hang them from the big *** reinforcing bar.

My Oil Cooler is mounted in the stock location for a GSL-SE.

I would recommend running an 81-83 "short & stubby" radiator with
the Oil cooler mounted below it. (This is how it is stock on the 81-83 cars). Then you can place the intercooler in front, as long as you leave a few inches of space between the IC and the radiator.

FMIC / FMOC / Rad Location

I put my intercooler on top of my oil cooler, and both are mounted in front of the radiator. All the air goes through two heat exchangers -- either intercooler then radiator or oil cooler then radiator. Here are some pics.

Thanks for all the info and pics.

Elwood, who makes your IC and OC? That's looking like what I am wanting to do.

And I don't really know stock OC location, as I have an 84 GS, with the little water cooler on top of the block.

IC = eBay special from some dude in Australia. It's a bar and plate, and our dyno testing shows that it's pretty good. Design is important on these things, but size matters, too.

OC = Setrab COM cooler. They're nice, but pricey. The OEM Mazda coolers are almost as big and nearly as good at a fraction of the cost. The ones off FCs are most plentiful.

The short radiator is from 79-82, 83-85 non SE cars have the water to oil "beehive" oil cooler. But I agree, the short rad and oil coole mounted under it gives you all the room you need for the ic up front.
On mine I have a fairly small I/C mouted on top of the support bar in front of the rad, and a FC oil cooler mounted under the support bar. Fits very nicely, although I'll have to search for some pics, not sure I have any.

I had a short S1 radiator, but I got rid of it, I'll be going with something with the same dimensions, but beefier, the one I had was experiencing a little fin-rot and had a leak or two.

As for oil cooler, well, one came with the engine!
