Gauging interest - Titanium parts

Alright guys, so as the title says, I might be making some titanium parts over the next few month now that i have access to plasma cutters, tig welders, and what not. Now i'm not sure how many parts I will be doing and what not but I just wanted to see if anyone has interest (and probably the pockets) for this.

I'll take a set of titanium rotors, eccentric shaft, rotor bearings, and apex seals

It would be way out of my budget but just about everything on the suspension would be nice to have titanium, anything to reduce unsprung weight is always a good thing...

some of the things that I was thinking about are for example, upper and lower rear control arms, rear watts links, the front engine holder piece, rear strut bars, front strut bars (most likely triangulated), various engine bay parts ... Some of the stuff i will probably have to do a strength test on the welds such as the control arms, and front engine holder, don't want any of that breaking on you guys. Everything will probably be just a brushed titanium look unless requested to be polished for a little extra dough. I think that the first thing that I will tackle is getthing the rear bar done. I'm going to try to make it in such a way that it will be a bolt on for everything.

Keep the ideas coming

I'm going tri link and panhard bar in the rear, but the lower control arms would definatly be on my list. Strut tower brace would be good too. How about the control arms up front? The pieces of sheet metal that the radiator attaches too would be great out of titanium. The sway bar/tension rod brackets would be good too...

Titanium = $$$$

How about an aluminum center console faceplate and aluminum plate for the window switches, etc..

Neat thing about titanium, you can change it's color by running a specific voltage through it.

Can't remember what voltages for what colors, but there is a basically a rainbow's range of colors you can do and it will not affect the strength of the titanium at all.

I'd just settle for the apex seals.

Apex seals would be decent, It can't be an issue of cost though, I mean, titanium has to be cheaper to make apex seals out of than ceramic, I wonder what the reason is?

directfreak - i like the center console idea but I don't think that would be weight saving but if I was to do blanks for all the race geared people that would be nice.

Apex seals, that one i'm not sure about, there has to be a reason why no one does them, personally I think that i'll be getting ceramic ones later on down the road.

Just so that you guys know, for the rear strut brace, the plastic trim that covers the well and the speakers will most likely have to be cut of removed to install one.

Titanium comes up every now and then. Why? Because it doesn't work. If it did, it would be common and everyone would know about it/have it in their cars.

Not exactly true....there's a LOT of stuff that everyone else has that is not available for the 1stgen RX-7 crowd. Titanium is used for a lot of stuff in racing and the aftermarket crowd, but that's because it's an easier sale when millions of customers exist instead of hundreds and some of that millions is willing to drop $$$ on parts.

Titanium pistons exist...titanium connecting rods, arguably the most stressed part of a boinger, they also exist, but they are horribly expensive items for the size of the parts.

reading from a few posts about titanium, apperently it expands too much, doesn't like to rub agaist other metal or itself for that matter, can burn up, and I was also reading that even in picton engines its not the greatest to be used, the most common stuff that i saw were ti valves ... whatever those are ... but they have to be replaced more often than stainless steel ones or chromed steel

I have a 50" long piece of 1" diameter round bar if anybody wants to make something. Let it go for half what it cost, say $400
