Gauge question

My guages seem to work...cept for the oil pressure gauge and the temp gauge. Where should I start looking first??? Im thinking that it cant be that theres no pressure since the car will warm up and the temp gauge dont rise at all.

check the water temp and oil pressure wires located below the oil filter. maybe the wires are just disconnected. IIRC, the water temp is yellow with some stripe. I cant remember the oil pressure.

Yeah, right below the "honeycomb", which is the oil cooler. IIRC = If I remember (recall) correctly. The water temp sensor looks like a small spark plug I guess, maybe 1/2 around with a single wire that should attach to it, and the oil pressure sender is larger, about 2" in diameter, and about 1" thick or so, also with a single wire coming out of it.

EDIT: Its also possible theyre both bad. I had a car with a bad oil pressure sender that read way wrong (nothing at idle, and 30 PSI or so at cruise). I swapped it out with another one and that one didnt even work. I ended up getting one from the junk yard which finally read correctly. On my other car, the water temp sender was bad. I dont think its as common for the water temp sensor to go out as the oil PSI sender, but its still possible. If you ground out the wires that go to the senders and turn the key on, the gauges should move to the full sweep. If it does that, you know the gauge isnt the culprit.

Oh Ok....thanks. Sorry about all the posts lately, but im trying to get a 84 rx7 running so that I can use it as a DD while I do body work/paint my other car. I bought the car cheap ($400) non running, and the guy gave me a line about it only needing a fuel pump. Well I took it....hook line and sinker. The car actually is a basketcase.
