gas tank venting

howdy- laying under my 83, installing one of those noisy after market fuel pumps, and as always looking for ways to simplify and reduce weight. The object of my attention now is the fuel, venting, check valve mess, i understand it's purpose, and don't plan on running upside down any time soon(xxx). So what i'd like to do is cut and cap the lines that i can and drill a hole in my gas cap, (for fuel expansion and tank suction relief), any body running like this?, any possible (unforseen) complications?-- by the way, remove the rear tow strap hooks yields about a 5 lbs. weight savings(every little bit)- aloha buff

i would personally leave it as no one ever really plans to run upside down. the unforseen complication that i foresee, lol, is condensation in your tank being far easier to happen.

5 pounds? Scrape the undercoating off the floor board and you iwll get about 25 pounds of needless weight.
