Gas tank replacement

Hello everyone, hope all your 7's are running well
I wanted to see if anyone out there has replaced a gas tank on their car? I got frustrated while trying to change my fuel sender unit on my gas tank so my gas gauge would work, and ended up tearing the gas tank open. I should of taken the gas tank out to do it but I didn't want to go through the trouble so now i'm paying. I ordered a new (used) tank but I've never done any work with gas tanks/fuel lines before. What should I look out for? Besides the obvious, like lighting a match. Am I going to have a mess of gas on the ground? I'm going to be doing this in an Apartment complex parking lot so neatness counts. Is it really heavy, should i put a jack underneath it and slowly lower it? How many connections are there to the gas tank? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

When i pulled mine off, it had a drain plug to help, but if yours doesnt you should try to drain the gas with a hose or something, its pretty easy to remove, remove the left rear tire to get to some of the covers and the two straps that hold the tank and yes a jack would be helpfull to lower the tank if it still has fuel in it..but there not heavy if empty..good luck........

Definitely drain it before you unbolt it. Gas weighs about 8 lbs/per gallon.

That website mentioned earlier will help you along.
