gas tank cleaning and sealing

i just pulled my gas tank to clean it - first i flushed it with water and then looked at the inside to see what condition it was it. the inside looks pretty good, but there are a few spots with some mild corrosion that i need to fix. i did a search and read about the chemicals to use to fix the corrosion and clean it. then they were talking about sealers - my question is this: when you put the sealer inside the tanks and rolled it around wouldnt it clog the filter thats on the main line inside at the bottom?

I've heard some people reporting of fuel pickup tubes being clogged with sealer.
If the corrosion isn't too bad, with big flakes of scale and all, I'd just apply a little phosphoric acid to the corroded spots and let it dry. It should turn the corrosion black, and neutralize it. Then rinse the tank out with a suitable solvent before use.

My tank was a full of corrosion and varnish after sitting for five years so I took it to a radiator shop and had it acid dipped. They un-soldered the fuel pickup before sealing tank then soldered it back in when they were done. It was well worth the $50 they charged for cleaning and sealing.
