gas guage problem

hey i have a 84 GSL, and my gas guage does not work. I took it to a mechanic and he said it needs changing as the sending unit and wiring is all fine.

my question is.. will the "gas is low" light on the dashboard still light up when the tank is near empty, because i really have no clue how much gas i have in there! this would be the only logical way i could tell.

oh i also notice when i take turns quickly the gas guage goes up a bit, then goes back down. its sticking basically.

thanks!

Make sure and clean the connections off on the sender plug. Its resistance based. This is what made mine start working again

Good luck

On my 85 SE the low fuel light still comes on although the gauge only operates when the tank is full. when it gets below 3/4 tank, it just reads empty.

My 85-SE doesn’t have a low gas light that I'm aware of?

Wait yes I do, it illuminates when I turn it to the on position but I've gotten the sucker on the E letter before and it's never came on while driving?
