Question FYI-some cheap 16" wheels I found....

http://www.mustangforums.com/forum_p...?TID=1659&PN=3

Just something I ran across, and maybe somebody wants those. But I did not realise that those Mustangs had the same lug pattern as the 12a RX7s??????????

Looks like some cheap knock off of wedds... lol....

They will fit 12a powered cars... but they put so much stress on the lug bolts that its not recomended.... cause i used mustang wheels on my 80 before... just to move it around, not to hot rod it.............

"16" X 7" 4 X 4.25"

Will Fit:

1979 to 1993 Ford Mustang's
12A powered Mazda RX7's"

They kinda fit.

79-93 mustang lug pattern is 4*108mm
12a rx7's are 4*110mm

I have had a set of my old musatng 10 holes on my rx7 and they did fit...sort-of.

Mustangs use 1/2-20 studs on here axles, I am pretty sure the mazda are the 12mm. So on rims to fit musatngs the holes in the rims are slightly bigger for the larger studs. So when you bolt on a musatng 4-108 rim to a mazda 4-110 the studs fit threw the rims fine, but the are just to the outside of the hole. So when the lug is tightened down it ride on one side of the seat more than the other. And will probably have a tendency to come loose, I didn't drive on mine for very long, they had 26*8 slicks on them.

What does 4.25" describe? I have also heard old lug patterns called 4 and a half?
Since the seven is slightly bigger, could the wheel holes just be redrilled a bit bigger to recenter the holes at 110?

And these are "salleen" wheels, so I guess they aren't supposed to be cheap knockoffs of something, but who knows.

4.25 refers to the "bolt pattern" it's the distance in inches from the center of one lug hole to the center of the lug hole on the opposite side.

4 and a half would be 4.5 inches.

so you can pretty much figure out what 4x110mm, 4x4.5, 5x114.3mm are now....

Duh, sorry. I had my metric to standard converion formula backwards, which wasn't allowing the MM to inch numbers agree. Geez, I need some coffee.

I had a pare of 4x 108 on my car for years and they worked but were a little shakey above 80 because they were probly not centered correctly.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting it wasn't fast, just that it looked redneck. Yeah, I had an 84 Grand Prix with big rear tires (bought it for $250 ten years ago- a steal). But having different wheels/tires in the front and back may be helpful fro drag racing if done right, it is also much easier and cheaper to find pairs of used wheels and tires than sets of four. There is a 2001 V6 Stang sitting right next door with stock rims up front, and some 20" Niches in the rear.

I posted this thread to maybe help somebody find some cheap 16s, but also to find out if the old Stang wheels fit 12As. It is ironic- I was actually looking for used Bullet (or any 17" 94 on Cobra) Mustang wheels for sale, to fit my TRUCK. To think I have two completely different Mazdas that can both use used Stang wheels .... twilight zone.

No, you wanna see redneck, check out GregS's car. He has the gsl-se front suspension, stock 12a rear suspension. So, he has dif rims in the front than in the rear.
