Fusible link Question/ Fuel Pump

Ok so I blew A link by hooking up my battery wrong opps not the first time and I hope its the last,
I just threw in a wire from my electrical tub and it doesent want to start when I turn the key the dash only shows maybe 9v.. my battery is new and i checked all my grounds. Where should I start.? New links?

I also have my tank out and was testing my fuel pump by just putting a finger over the tube from the tank just before the check valve??? it but nothing no suction or anything its sound like it did when I installed it years ago.. I hope I can bypass all the check valves and crap back there and just hook up the pump to the pickup line,

Im just taking it easy on this doing a little at a time everyday.

Hope to get her running soon Im thinking replace the fusible link and as far as the fuel situation get the pump hooked directly to the pickup line...

Input and ideas are alway welcome thats why im here. Search has lead me toward going second gen fuse box but im not interested in doing that.

Cheers
Matt

NEVER replace a fuse/fusible link with a straight wire jumper!!! It blew for a reason, find it. Otherwise you may end up looking at a burnt out wiring harness of even a burnt out shell of a car. Same with the fuel system check valves. Chances of needing the cut and check valve are slim, but hanging upside down by your seat belt waiting to be consumed by a fuel fire isn't the time or place to say, 'Oh ****, wish I'd left that check valve in there.'.

If you can't find fusible links, replace them with 2nd gen under hood fuses. 30/60/30 amp, top to bottom.

So from what Im hearing the fuses from 2nd gens will interchage with my fusees in a 1st gen engine bay?

I will replace and re-install all the soft fuel lines in the car while im at it. And leave the check/cut valves.

I also went ahead and ran a new ground for the engine and passenger side..

Try to search for a write up on replacing the fusible links by the FC box. Before you do something like that, it's best to understand what you're doing. Basicly all fusible links can be replaced by fuses, but obviously they need to be the correct rating.
My guess would be to find out what went wrong first, and simply replace the blown fusible link.

the fuel pump runs off of the "engine" fuse in the fusebox under the dash.

2. i have an 82, and the FC fuses plugged right in

It's expensive because there probably aren't many left, supply/demand. Never assume a part is bad, have you tested it? Can you physically SEE that it's bad? All the resources are here, if you need help reading a wiring diagram I can help you there, if possible.
