fuel system

i plan on building a 12a rotary for the pro-7 road racing class. the only legal engine mods are staight exhaust, minor intake mods, balancing/blueprinting, carb jetting, and fuel systems mods. My question is wether or not a higher flow fuel pump, bigger lines..ect.(general fuel system upgrade) will gain me any horsepower.

A higher flow fuel pump will not create anymore horsepower. The carb does rely on a consistent rate of PSI flow especially during sustained Wide Open Throttle and while cornering. Rotaries dont like being fuel starved under those conditions, so a good fuel pump is mandatory. Keep the same lines. Add a fuel regulator and additional filter right before the carb inlet.

The additional filter is unecessary IMO and may actually hurt flow. The carb inlet fittings contain little screen filters that should prevent any debris from finding their way into the carb. If you must have an extra filter I'd put it before the regulator.

I definately agree though that a higher flowing pump is mandatory. The Carter Silver pump combined with a 1-4psi Holley regulator is a popular choice and will handle your setup without a worry. The pump mounts very nicely on the frame rail just before the rear axle.
