Fuel pump too noisy!

Alright... I've been running a Holley Blue? fuel pump for awhile now and it's just plain loud! All I hear at idle is WEEEEEEEEEEEE. I have all interior panels and even a little additional piece of bedding foam under the carpet above the pump.

Is there anything else I can do to make this beast quieter? You can't hear it from the outside. Just the inside. Is there perhaps a rubber insulator I can put on the mounts? Could it be resonating off the car body?

Yes, I believe Holley supplies a mounting kit with rubber insulators. Or you can go down to your local hardware store and make your own.

Have you heard of this pump being noisy before?

I'll check into some little rubber donuts or something to mount it with.

Mounted the pump on the back side of the storage bin, didn't you. Might as well mount it on a drum skin. You can add a 1/8" steel stiffening plate to the inside of the bin, (6"X6") along with standoff rubber bushings or even an old, thick mouse pad.

I forgot that is Napa where I saw the rubber mounting kit for the carter pumps. Should work on the Holley also since they mount pretty much the same.

It's mounted outside under the driver side dip in the rear of the seat.

Storage bins?? I wish my SA had bins! I thought about getting FB bins.

That's the same spot as the bins, has the same drum effect. Keep in mind that most aftermarket pumps need to be mounted in a true vertical position, which the bin/seat pan is not. If you want it queter, either mount with a sound absorbing material or on the frame rail. Frame rail mounting usually require that cut/check valve be moved up.

just run to Wal-Mart and buy a pair of rubber slippers or thongs for $2.50. Use it as an insulator.

I just mounted mine where the stock fuel pump was and yes it is noisy but not that bad. It is a diaphram type pump not a rotor type pump so it is going to be noisy.

Why, Carters tend to be even louder than the Holleys. If one wants a quiet pump, spend the bucks for gerotor pump.

Or... since I'm using a Nikki perhaps I should sell it to someone running a Holley or Weber and find a factory pump... That way I could do away with my pressure regulator right? Just connect the outlet directly into the Nikki inlet? No regulators?

The car came with a 45DCOE so that's why it has the Holley pump and FPR.
