Fuel pump question.
I have an 85 GSL-SE that won't start. A few times over the last few months it wouldn't start, but after spraying some starting fluid in the intake it would start and run fine, Lately it's gotten to where it won't start at all. Since the starting fluid would get it to run a little while and then stop, I suspected that it might not be getting any fuel, so I checked the fuel pump. I took off the inlet hose and put the end in a jar and tried to start the car. No fuel in the jar. I read up a little more and found that you are suppossed to put a jumper wire in a connector over near the air cleaner. I did that and cranked it and still no fuel comes out.
Is there anything I'm missing or does this definitely mean that the fuel pump is bad? Anything else I should check first? Is there a fuse, and if so where is it?
(There are 2 fuel hoses, the one on the left is the inlet and the one on the right is the return, right?)
(remember, it's an SE)

Since the fuel pump is mounted out of the tank.. just take it out.. run a wire from your car battery and see if its working..feeding it liquid of course.... also its always a good time to replace the fuel filter.

Have you checked for voltage at the pump yet? That would probably be easier than actually pulling the pump out. There are relays/fuses that can stop the pump too...
Oh, and make sure you've got some gas in the tank too!
