Fuel pump Question

I going to change my fuel pump out. I read all I can find on the subject. FSM says I need 3.5 psi. I found a pump that will pump at best 4 psi. Would that extra .5 really matter? BTW my pump is factor original and rusted. Could be just another reason I can't get over 4000 RPM's

Thanks

I'm not the expert here but to me that seems like a non-issue. If your concerned about it get a fuel pressure regulator.

Most of us are using aftermarket pumps with a fpr. Of course I run a Weber not the stock carb.

I feel the same about it. But I wanted a warm fuzzy about using the pump. Thanks

Thank you I would love for it to run right. I have not been able to drive it yet.

You might know this already but it's best to have a pump that has like 6-7 psi and a FPR that brings it down to what the carb needs. That way the number of factors that can effect pressure fluctuations won't be able to bring it down to a level where the carb starves. A good combo for example is a 7 psi Carter pump and Holley 0-4 psi regulator. My $0.02.
