Today my fuel pump started making a loud sound, like some sort of tapping. then later it went away. Then it came back after I filled up with gas. then went away 5 minutes later.
Is it going out or is something probably loose.
If I have to replace it should I get a holley or OE
I work at a mazda dealership so I get OE stuff at cost, no markup.
How difficult is the holley to hook up.

I would go aftermarket; the stock pump sucks, if you need a new one why not get something decent. Best aftermarket pump is supposed to be the Carter 7psi street/race pump. Reputed to be better than the Holley and a lot cheaper. You can't install it in the stock location though, search the forum for details. Remember you'll need a regulator and guage if you get any aftermarket pump.

I switched to the carter and its performance is excellent. according to yaw it outperforms the holley I also had to run new electrical wiring to the pump. The old wiring had a short. So check youre wiring before you run out and buy a pump, although the performance increase is worth it anyway.
Hey, how long did it take you to mount it? The pump and the regulator. With the Holley reg, do I need to buy a guage to set it or could I guesstimate and take it to a shop with an accurate guage? I hope all this info isn't in Peejay's reg placement thread, it'd be a shame that the first time I don't search it's right infront of my face.

Wow, I think I might have solved the problem. When I went to get gas there was so much pressure in the tank it blew the gas cap a good 15 feet from the car. After that it made the noise for a few seconds and then it went away and hasn't come back.
