Fuel Pump and Distributor
well I finally got my Fb started (not running) we think there could be something wrong with the fuel pump maybe little or no gas at all is getting to the engine. its all still stock, there has never been any mods. I am curious of how to test the fuel pump to see if it is broke or nope.
also
I may of made a big mistake by fiddling with the distributor and possibly getting it off track. what do you guys suggest I do?

Fuel pump: pull the hose off that leads to the carb and connects to the rear of the carb (other is the return line). Put the end of the hose in a bottle, then start cranking the car and see if gas comes out.
Otherwise, look in the sight windows and see if there is fuel in the float bowls...

4 days after i bought my car it started sputtering after 4k rpm....after cleaning the gas tank and changing fuel filter with no progress...i made my way to the fuel pump and tested it by connecting it straight to the car battery....i thought the pump was still ok becuz it was still making whirring noises, but i soon gathered the courage to buy a new fuel pump and i've been redlinin ever since....your car is 20 years old....changing the fuel pump should be routine maintenance anyway...i got one for about 110 from a local auto part store (nothing special...just an oem replacement)...if ur serious about restoring your car, the cost of a new fuel pump shouldn't hurt too bad as it is one of the primaries for your car to run...period. if your car doesn't start without starter fluid...chances are...you need that fuel pump...this is merely a suggestion from my own experience so dont go out there and hunt my down if u buy a fuel pump and it doesnt work

o yeah and while ur down there....u might wanan remove the gas tank and have it professionally cleaned at a radiator shop....my tank was filled with 20 year old gas, gunk, and debris that was practically sand.....it clogged up my fuel pump and broke it....and it CLOGGED up my fuel filter as well....doesnt seem like a big deal but i did not want ANY of this nasty gunk in my engine
there was also a fuel strainer in my gas tank that corroded entirely, which was the cause of all the gunk....the other gunk that was in there was unexplained :X
you're almost there....you're on the right track by changing the fuel filter....good start
