Smile Fuel problem I almost got'r done

Hey, here's the latest problem on my project car (85SE).
I dissconnected the fuel pump (at the connector) sprayed quick start in the intake and the sucker ran good till I stopped spraying (10 seconds after) I then connected the fuel pump and sprayed quick start and she no go disconnected fuel pump and just cranked, she ran for about 10 seconds.

I don't know how a rotary reacts to starting fluid, but to much in a diesel burns your valves. WD 40 is much better with piston motors, but like I said I don't know the whoes of that on the rotary. If it is determined that it is your fuel pump I would go with a Carter 195 lph pump. I have a 255 lph in mine which I do enjoy, but the gas milage really sucks!

NOTE: Carter/Walbro is the same pump.

Hey!!!!
It RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had some corrosion in the connector to the oscillator cleaned it up and it started. But it went up to 2500 RPM and then died. then I started it again and it revved to 2500 again but I was able to keep it going with a little throttle action. Once it warmed up it held a perfect 800 RPM but was smoking (white) badly. I know that someone has screwed with the fuel mix but I would like to get this started cold (80 deg.) without having to pump the gas. Any help out there?????????????????? If I can get it to run right it will be on the road in a week and then LET THE CUSTOM WORK BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Brian

The fuel is set by a screw on the passenger side just behind the AFM. It is in a black casing and has a small R and L on it. L for lean R for rich. You want to set it towards the lean side. Be awar that this is a PITA to get set properly. Like I have stated in other threads it took me several weeks to get mine set. Also I have to adj for the weather changes, like humidity, and cold weather. It is set along with the air screw on top of your intake. Be sure that your TPS is set properly also.

BTW, white smoke usually means water leak. Check back and let us know how it goes.
